Abstract:
Communication systems and infrastructures become more critical in our daily life. Damages to physical links or nodes affect all transmission paths carried by them and result in a substantial loss of information that can be catastrophic.
In this talk, we first introduce the protection strategy called backup protection, which would assign idle resource, such as additional links and nodes, to establish backup routes. We survey variants of problem models about disjoint paths problem and introduce the work we do.
Secondly, we implement shielding protection to protect from geographical failures in a large-scale disaster. The problem aims at shielding with minimum cost of edges such that the graph remains connected after failures occur. We introduce some previous researches about the problem and our proposed new model.
