On March 18, 2021, we welcomed Weibo Lin and Zhu He, two alumni of the Class of 2016, to participate in 2021 Huawei Software Elite Challenge in UESTC’s Qingshuihe campus. Though they are no longer students, they will remind forever Violet as lifelong members of the UESTC community.

We held a reunion dinner with all the students from Algorithms and Logic Group in the evening. During the dinner, Mr.Lin and Mr.He shared about their career experience and latest development in the employment market. The experiences shared by the two alumni are valuable sources of information for our current students. Prof. Mingyu Xiao encouraged the students to begin their careers with a UESTC education, added their own hard work, talent and relentless pursuit of excellence as well as built successful career pathways in the future for themselves and a very vibrant community of alumni to support each other. Through the dinner, our students not merely get a comprehensive picture of different careers, but also explore various options in greater depth. In addition, our bonds grows stronger because we each share a common educational experience.

The journey before us is more of an exploration instead of a destination. As we all move forward to the next exciting chapter of our lives, we expect next alumni reunion dinner to tell us what they’ll miss and what’s in store.

Wei Bolin:

Mr Weibo Lin obtained his master’s degree from the School of Computer Science and Engineering, UESTC. During his postgraduate years, he published five papers of high quality and high impact factors and won the second place in the IEEEXtreme Programming Competition for two consecutive years, and was finally selected into Huawei Genius Youth Program, becoming the only one among all the postgraduates around the country selected for this program.
